West Australian Mountain Bike Association (WAMBA) is the state representative body for the West Australian mountain bike community.

A volunteer organisation, WAMBA works collaboratively with key stakeholders to identify, develop and sustain mountain bike experiences in Western Australia.

And also acts as a resource for clubs looking for help on trail advocacy and grants, and co-ordinates the racing calendar.

2016 WA Junior MTB State Team

Do you want to be involved in the new direction for high performance mountain biking in WA?

In preparation for the March 2017 MTBA National Championships in QLD, WestCycle is calling for nominations for the WAMBA Junior MTB State Coach, who will be the figure head of the WAMBA MTB State Squad and State Team.

The roles and responsibilities for the WAMBA Junior MTB State Coach are below. This will be a 12-month appointment and will be aligned with the WestCycle High Performance strategy:

  • Attendance at the Nationals in their entirety (March 2017 TBC).
  • Delivery of a state camp training sessions on a weekend or weekends before the Nationals, to be organised in liaison with the WestCycle HP Manager.
  • Duty of care of the athletes whilst at the Nationals, not limited to:
    • Transportation
    • Race preparation
    • Direct athlete feedback
    • Overnight chaperone of athletes
    • Post event reporting for each athlete.
    • Input into the State Team selection.
    • Leading and actively engaging in the Team WA culture.

The State Coach will work with and report to the WestCycle High Performance Manager, who will also be attending the Nationals. All costs associated with attending the nationals will be covered, and there will be remuneration for the camps that are delivered. Our State Coach must have a current WWC check, as well as having a formal coaching accreditation or working towards one.

All nominations will be considered by the WestCycle Selection Committee - short listed applicants will be asked to present their vision of the State Junior MTB Team to the Committee.
