The WA state election is looming and WestCycle's #INVESTinCYCLING campaign has resulted in some positive commitments from all major parties.

With the Liberal Party’s $9.5M of pledges for mountain biking-specific development works, mountain-bike tourism being identified as a key element of the Labour Party’s $23M pledge and site-specific pledges from the National Party, there can be no question that our sport has come of age. Whilst completely deserved, this attention has been a long time coming and is based on the dedicated work of individuals too many to mention. We would like to acknowledge the part that past WAMBA committee-members have played and continue to play in raising the profile of our sport. We would similarly like to acknowledge the efforts of all of the committee and club members around WA past and present have also played. We also acknowledge the support that mountain-biking has received from within the state government - from DPaW, from DSR and from local government. Finally, WAMBA would like to acknowledge the excellent work done on behalf of all mountain bikers by WestCycle and in particular by Peta Demidenko - WestCycle’s mountain biking manager.

Even if the promises that have been made in the lead-up to this election turn-out not to be “core” promises, there is no denying that the tide has turned. Together we have achieved amazing things and this is just the beginning.

Thank you everyone and let’s hold them to their promises!

As the peak body for cycling in WA, WestCycle has been running a #INVESTinCYCLING campaign which has lead to some promising election commitments to date from the Liberals, Nationals, Greens and Labour.

Check out their blog to find out exactly what they are promising. . . . #INVESTinCYCLING.

Congratulations to these junior riders on being part of WA's new high performance programme!

WAMBA and WestCycle are excited to announce the first ever WA State Mountain Bike Squad - another step in the expansion of the new high performance programme for WA mountain bikers.

Approximately 40 riders have taken up the chance to attend great coaching sessions, workshops and camps, while being assisted with preparation and travel to the 2017 National MTB Championships, being held March next year in Toowoomba, QLD.

This is an awesome result in the first year of the programme and highlights the strength of junior development in the state.
